Bacteroides, butyric acid and t10,c12-CLA changes in colorectal adenomatous polyp patients

Ciyan Chen et al.

Summary: Patients with CAPs exhibited increased abundances of Bacteroides and Citrobacter in their gut microbiota, while Weissella and Lactobacillus showed decreased abundances. The butyrate-producing bacterial genes were significantly increased in CAP patients, whereas no differences were observed in the genes producing secondary bile acids and CLA in fecal samples.

Evidence for Modulation of Substance Use Disorders by the Gut Microbiome: Hidden in Plain Sight

Mariana Angoa-Perez et al.

Summary: The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in drug abuse by modulating CNS reward circuits and utilizing methods such as antibiotics, sodium butyrate, and high-fat diets to affect drug reward. This review highlights the importance of considering the gut microbiome in understanding and treating substance use disorders.

Butyrate Suppresses Glucose Metabolism of Colorectal Cancer Cells via GPR109a-AKT Signaling Pathway and Enhances Chemotherapy

Hong-Wei Geng et al.

Summary: Butyrate inhibits glucose transport and glycolysis in colorectal cancer cells by reducing the abundance of membrane GLUT1 and cytoplasmic G6PD, regulated by the GPR109a-AKT signaling pathway. Additionally, butyrate enhances the chemotherapeutic efficacy of 5-fluorouracil on cancerous colonocytes, leading to exacerbated impairment of DNA synthesis efficiency.
