Can a Novel Scoring System Improve on the Mirels Score in Predicting the Fracture Risk in Patients with Multiple Myeloma?

Summary: The study aimed to develop a novel scoring system for predicting pathologic fractures in multiple myeloma patients with long-bone lesions and compared its performance with the Mirels system. The novel scoring system showed higher sensitivity but similar specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and ROC AUC compared to the Mirels system, making it a potentially more effective screening tool for these patients.
