Comparison of coronary atherosclerotic disease burden between ST-elevation myocardial infarction and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction: Non-culprit Gensini score and non-culprit SYNTAX score

Takamasa Tanaka et al.

Summary: Patients with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) have more extensive coronary atherosclerotic disease burden, including non-obstruction lesions, which could contribute to their worse long-term outcomes compared to those with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Correlation of the severity of coronary artery disease with patients' metabolic profile- rationale, design and baseline patient characteristics of the CorLipid trial

Efstratios Karagiannidis et al.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic utility of plasma metabolomics-based biomarkers for determining the complexity and severity of CAD, as it is assessed via the SYNTAX score. The CorLipid trial is an ongoing trial investigating the correlation between metabolic profile and complexity of coronary artery disease. It aims to create an integrative metabolomic biomarkers-based algorithm for identifying high-risk patients with CAD.

Micro-CT-Based Quantification of Extracted Thrombus Burden Characteristics and Association With Angiographic Outcomes in Patients With ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction: The QUEST-STEMI Study

Efstratios Karagiannidis et al.

Summary: This study utilized micro-CT to evaluate thrombotic material characteristics in STEMI patients undergoing thrombus aspiration for the first time. The results showed that larger aspirated thrombus volume and surface were associated with worse angiographic outcomes and prognosis. Current thrombectomy devices may not effectively manage the larger thrombus load retrieved from these patients, prompting further research on novel thrombus aspiration technologies to improve patient outcomes.
