Locally delivered adjuvant biofilm-penetrating antibiotics rescue impaired endochondral fracture healing caused by MRSA infection

Sean V. Cahill et al.

Summary: Local rifampin-loaded hydrogel effectively combats MRSA infection, reduces bacterial load, prevents implant colonization, and improves fracture healing outcomes in a murine model. Systemic rifampin is more effective at eliminating infection and promoting fracture healing. Further studies are needed to validate these findings in clinical settings.
