Circadian fluctuations in glucocorticoid level predict perceptual discrimination sensitivity

Jonas Obleser et al.

Summary: This study reveals that phasic increases in glucocorticoid availability are beneficial for auditory discrimination. Higher cortisol levels prior to behavioral testing predict better pitch discrimination ability. These findings pave the way for further research on neuroendocrinological determinants of sensory encoding and perception.
