A simple and efficient Bronsted-acid-promoted N-dealkylation method has been developed for N-alkylamides and N-alkylsulfonamides, offering a wide substrate scope and excellent chemical selectivity to produce primary (sulfon)amide derivatives in moderate to good yields without the need for transition-metal catalysts.
