Co-Cu Bimetallic Metal Organic Framework Catalyst Outperforms the Pt/C Benchmark for Oxygen Reduction

Mohamed Fathi Sanad et al.

Summary: A novel nonprecious Co-Cu bimetallic metal-organic framework (MOF) catalyst was reported, which exhibited superior electrocatalytic activity for ORR in alkaline environments compared to Pt/C, along with higher electrochemical stability and better performance. This outstanding behavior was attributed to the unique electronic synergy of the Co-Cu bimetallic centers in the MOF network, as revealed by XPS and PDOS analysis.

Design of an amorphous and defect-rich CoMoOF layer as a pH-universal catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction

Lei Lei et al.

Summary: A brief structural design strategy was proposed to fabricate amorphous CoMo bimetallic oxyfluoride catalyst for efficient hydrogen evolution reaction. Theoretical calculations revealed a synergistic catalytic effect from the CoMo bimetallic components, enhancing the electrochemically active surface area. The constructed CoMoOF catalyst showed remarkable mass transfer ability, sufficient exposed atoms, and displayed excellent activity in both alkaline and acidic media with low overpotential and Tafel slope values.
