Experimental investigation on the influence of phase change materials on properties and pore structure of steam-cured mortar

Liping Bi et al.

Summary: The addition of suitable phase change materials has little effect on the strength of steam-cured mortar, but can effectively improve water-penetration resistance. The hydrophobic characteristics of the PCMs adhere to the pores during steam curing, and the composite phase change material of diatomite and paraffin further optimizes the pore structure of the mortar.

Mechanical Properties and Air Permeability of Concrete Containing Waste Tires Extracts

Ibrahim G. Shaaban et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of curing and drying on the mechanical properties and permeation characteristics of concrete using waste tire extracts. It shows that incorporating crumb rubber and steel fibers as partial replacements in concrete can enhance its tensile and flexural strengths. The research suggests that the oven-drying curing regime can reduce the air permeability of the concrete, indicating a potential for indoor and outdoor applications.

Mechanical properties and permeability of red mud-blast furnace slag-based geopolymer concrete

Xiangzhou Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, geopolymer mortar was synthesized by combining red mud and blast furnace slag, resulting in geopolymer concrete with excellent mechanical properties and permeability resistance for construction materials. The geopolymer concrete can be used as load-bearing members in structures due to its high compressive strength. The formation of aluminosilicate reaction products in a strongly alkaline environment contributes to the high strength and excellent physical and chemical properties of geopolymer concrete.
