Bridgmanite is nearly dry at the top of the lower mantle

Summary: The study synthesized high-quality single crystals of aluminous bridgmanite saturated with hydrous melt, indicating that the dominant lower-mantle bridgmanite phase may be dry and that aluminum and iron cannot enhance water incorporation into its structure. Partition coefficients of water between transition-zone minerals and dry lower-mantle dominated bridgmanite further support dehydration melting at the top of the lower mantle.
