Evolution of Microstructural Properties in Sheared Iron-Rich Olivine

Chao Qi et al.

Summary: Experimental study on olivine samples with different iron contents reveals a transition in crystallographic preferred orientation and an increase in radial seismic anisotropy with increasing strain. Recrystallized grain size decreases inversely with stress and increases with increasing iron content. This research contributes to understanding the microstructural evolution in the mantle of both Earth and Mars.
