Secondary aerosol formation alters CCN activity in the North China Plain

Jiangchuan Tao et al.

Summary: Secondary aerosols play a significant role in the particle size distribution and hygroscopicity in the North China Plain. Their formation under different relative humidity conditions can lead to varying impacts on cloud condensation nuclei activity and concentration calculations. This study highlights the importance of considering secondary aerosol formation in improving CCN predictions in chemical-transport and climate models.
