Control of Graves' hyperthyroidism with very long-term methimazole treatment: a clinical trial

Summary: This study found that long-term low dose MMI treatment may be an effective and safe therapeutic option for patients with Graves' hyperthyroidism to prevent relapse. Patients who continued MMI treatment for 24 years did not show any abnormal thyroid function during the study period, while 19% of patients who discontinued MMI experienced hyperthyroidism relapse.
