Optimization of CRISPR/Cas System for Improving Genome Editing Efficiency in Plasmodium falciparum

Yuemeng Zhao et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed an integrating strategy based on the CRISPR/Cas9 system to generate a Cas9i system, which significantly reduces the time for creating transgenic strains in P. falciparum. They have successfully achieved multiplexed genome editing (mutating or tagging) in P. falciparum with this Cas9i system through a single-round transfection. Additionally, they have adapted AsCpf1 as an alternative to Cas9 in P. falciparum parasites for gene editing, marking a significant step in optimizing the CRISPR/Cas system for malaria parasite research.

Molecular characterization and analysis of the ATPase ASNA1 homolog gene of Eimeria tenella in a drug sensitive strain and drug resistant strains

Yu Yu et al.

Summary: Research has shown that the resistance of Eimeria tenalla to certain drugs may be related to the high expression levels of the protein EtASNA1, which increase with drug concentration. This protein may play a role in the invasion of host cells by E. tenella and the development of drug resistance.

Endothelium-dependent contraction: The non-classical action of endothelial prostacyclin, its underlying mechanisms, and implications

Summary: Endothelial COX metabolism produces both prostacyclin and endothelium-derived contracting factors, leading to vasodilatation and endothelium-dependent contraction, respectively. The balance of IP, TP, and EP3 receptors modulates the vascular responses to PGI(2) in health and disease, with potential pathological and therapeutic implications.
