Energy-Efficient Cooperative Communication and Computation for Wireless Powered Mobile-Edge Computing

Summary: This article presents a wireless powered mobile-edge computing system, consisting of a hybrid access point and multiple cooperative fogs, to improve computation performance by sharing communication and computation resources. By utilizing a harvest-and-offload protocol based on the classic time-division-multiple-access protocol, the system minimizes energy consumption through joint consideration of energy beamforming, time-slot assignment, computation-task allocation, and optimization of CPU frequencies. The proposed scheme reduces energy consumption considerably compared to existing methods and demonstrates the positive impact of dynamic CPU frequency on energy saving.
