Supercontinuum generation in As2S3 waveguides fabricated without direct etching

Joonhyuk Hwang et al.

Summary: This study reports the supercontinuum generation in a waveguide formed on a preformed SiO2 substructure during the deposition of core material without an etching process. Numerical simulations were used to analyze the dispersion control mechanism, resulting in a design rule to achieve a certain dispersion profile. Experimental demonstration using a dispersion-controlled waveguide made of As2S3 showed successful supercontinuum generation extending over 1.5 octaves.

Photonic chip-based resonant supercontinuum via pulse-driven Kerr microresonator solitons

Miles H. Anderson et al.

Summary: Supercontinuum generation and soliton microcomb formation are key techniques for coherent, ultrabroad optical frequency combs, but they differ in their efficiency and application in the microwave domain. Bridging the efficiency gap between the two approaches by driving a dispersion-engineered photonic-chip-based microresonator can achieve high-efficiency soliton microcomb generation and frequency conversion.

Optical characterization of Ge11.5As24S64.5 g ass for an on-chip supercontinuum

Haiyan Shang et al.

Summary: An on-chip supercontinuum source spanning from 900 nm to 2000 nm based on a Ge11.5As24S64.5 (GeAsS) planar waveguide at telecommunication wavelength has been experimentally presented and analyzed, with a nonlinear response parameter estimated to be around 12 /W/m. The results suggest that the GeAsS glass is expected to be an ideal platform for on-chip devices.

On-Chip Detector Based on Supercontinuum Generation in Chalcogenide Waveguide

Haiyan Shang et al.

Summary: The study presents the design, preparation, and performance optimization of strip waveguide in chalcogenide glass for broadband supercontinuum generation. The strip waveguide in Ge-Sb-S glass is experimentally demonstrated for generating a supercontinuum source with a bandwidth of 1300 nm. Additionally, the device's sensing capability for optical absorption of beta-phenylethylamine solutions near 1551 nm in various concentrations is validated, showing the repeatability and consistency of the generated supercontinuum spectrum in test.
