Oral insulin immunotherapy in children at risk for type 1 diabetes in a randomised controlled trial

Robin Assfalg et al.

Summary: Oral insulin immunotherapy in young children at risk of developing type 1 diabetes was found to be safe, but did not show the anticipated immune response. Preliminary evidence suggests that antibody responses to oral insulin may be more frequent in children with specific INS genotypes, and that inflammatory episodes may influence T cell responses to insulin.
