Targeting Wnt/β-catenin by anthelmintic drug niclosamide overcomes paclitaxel resistance in esophageal cancer

Wei Wei et al.

Summary: Esophageal cancer is a highly aggressive malignancy with high rates of recurrence. Niclosamide, an anthelmintic drug, shows potential as a sensitizing agent to overcome chemoresistance in esophageal cancer, particularly in combination with paclitaxel. Mechanistically, niclosamide inhibits Wnt/beta-catenin signaling and shows efficacy in inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis in paclitaxel-resistant esophageal cancer cells.

Mild mitochondrial uncoupling protects from ionizing radiation induced cell death by attenuating oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage

Yogesh Rai et al.

Summary: The study suggests that mild mitochondrial uncoupling with DNP could protect cells from radiation-induced cytotoxic insult by reducing apoptosis and oxidative stress, thereby promoting cell growth recovery. Mitochondrial uncoupling may be a potential therapeutic approach for radiation-induced cellular damage.

Targeting B7-H3 via chimeric antigen receptor T cells and bispecific killer cell engagers augments antitumor response of cytotoxic lymphocytes

Jie Liu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that using B7-H3 CAR-T cells and B7-H3/CD16 BiKE can effectively inhibit NSCLC tumor growth, and direct CD16 signaling can significantly increase NK cell activity and target cell death. Additionally, inhibition of B7-H3 may alter tumor glucose metabolism via the reactive oxygen species-mediated pathway.
