Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy in Amyloid-Positive Patients from a Memory Clinic Cohort

Ana Sofia Costa et al.

Summary: The presence of probable CAA in A beta positive patients was associated with lower A beta(1-42) and A beta(1-40) CSF levels and increased centrum semiovale EPVS burden, but did not independently influence clinical phenotype nor the rate of cognitive decline within our follow-up time window.

Associations of APOE e2 genotype with cerebrovascular pathology: a postmortem study of 1275 brains

Summary: The study evaluated the association between APOE genotype and cerebrovascular disease in a large neuropathological database. It found that the APOE e4 allele significantly increased risk for cerebral amyloid angiopathy, while APOE e2 significantly increased risk for gross hemorrhage in the presence of CAA.
