Estrogen receptor-α signaling increases allergen-induced IL-33 release and airway inflammation

Jacqueline-Yvonne Cephus et al.

Summary: In this study, estrogen receptor-alpha signaling was found to increase IL-33 release and ILC2-mediated airway inflammation. Esr1-deficient mice showed significantly reduced IL-5, IL-13 production, BAL eosinophils, and IL-33 release, while PPT and 17β-estradiol increased IL-33 gene expression and release.

PPARγ enhances ILC2 function during allergic airway inflammation via transcription regulation of ST2

Qiang Xiao et al.

Summary: The study identified PPARγ as a positive regulator of ILC2 in allergic airway inflammation through modulation of the ST2 receptor. Deficiency of PPARγ significantly alleviated the function of ILC2 and reduced symptoms of airway inflammation.

Treg-dependent immunosuppression triggers effector T cell dysfunction via the STING/ILC2 axis

Kalliopi Domvri et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Tregs in the lung tumor microenvironment play a crucial role in promoting immunosuppression through STING inhibition and GATA3/NOS2-related mechanisms, leading to decreased CD4(+) T infiltration and increased lung metastatic burden. Enhanced Treg expression is also associated with restriction of CD8(+)CD44(+)CD62L(-) T effector cells and T cell dysfunction, contributing to a tumor-promoting status. Additionally, Tregs in this context are found to promote immunosuppressive chemoresistance and are correlated with T cell exhaustion and ILC2 augmentation.
