Variations and similarities in structural, chemical, and elemental properties on the ashes derived from the coal due to their combustion in open and controlled manner

Virendra Kumar Yadav et al.

Summary: Coal fly ash (CFA) and coal-based incense sticks ash (ISA) have similarities and differences due to the presence of coal, with CFA generated from coal combustion in thermal power plants and ISA from incense sticks burning. Analysis showed that CFA contains well-organized spherical particles while ISA particles are irregular and aggregated, with different mineral compositions and structures.

Morphology, chemical and mineralogical composition of magnetic fraction of coal fly ash

Ewa Strzalkowska

Summary: The article detailed the geochemical and mineralogical characteristics of magnetic particles formed during energetic combustion of hard coal and lignite, aiming to assess their suitability as raw materials for new technologies. Various analytical methods were used to test hard coal and lignite fly ash, as well as the magnetic fractions separated from them. The research confirmed the enrichment of various elements in the magnetic fractions, with concentrations of Cu and Ni in lignite magnetic fraction significantly higher than average concentration in ash.

Development and Evaluation of Nano-Silica Sustainable Concrete

Habib H. Alqamish et al.

Summary: The study indicates that adding nano-silica to concrete can significantly improve the compressive strength of mixtures containing 30% GGBS, but its impact on mixtures containing 70% GGBS is less predictable. Additionally, nano-silica can enhance the microstructure and interface structure of the mixtures.

Removal of disperse orange and disperse blue dyes present in textile mill effluent using zeolite synthesized from cenospheres

Markandeya et al.

Summary: The research investigated an efficient and eco-friendly method of using coal fly ash in the form of zeolite to treat wastewater with dyes. Response surface methodology was employed to evaluate the effect of process parameters on the removal of dyes, and optimal conditions were identified for maximum removal of Disperse Orange 25 and Disperse Blue 79:1. The study concluded that cenospheres derivatized zeolite adsorbent is efficient, environmentally friendly, cost-effective and shows high potential for removing DO and DB dyes from aqueous solutions.

Development of Ultra-Lightweight and High Strength Engineered Cementitious Composites

Zhitao Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, ultra-lightweight and high strength Engineered Cementitious Composites (ULHS-ECCs) were developed by incorporating lightweight fillers and tailoring matrix composition. The resulting ULHS-ECCs have properties such as low density, high compressive strength, good tensile strain capacity, and low thermal conductivity. The micromechanical properties, including matrix fracture toughness and fiber/matrix interface properties, of ULHS-ECCs can be altered by the inclusion of lightweight fillers and variation in ternary binder proportioning, leading to changes in tensile strain-hardening performance.
