Emergence of compensated ferrimagnetic state in Mn2_xRu1+xGa (x=0.2, 0.5) alloys

Snehashish Chatterjee et al.

Summary: In this study, solid solutions of Mn2_xRu1+xGa (x = 0.2, 0.5) were synthesized, showing ferrimagnetic ordering at low temperatures; the x = 0.5 alloy displayed a phenomenon of almost disappearing magnetization at low temperatures, along with significant exchange bias; both alloys exhibited a transition from a high-temperature semiconducting phase to a low-temperature metallic phase, influenced by small polaron hopping in the high-temperature phase.

Microstructural and Thermo-Mechanical Characterization of Cast NiTiCu20 Shape Memory Alloy

Francesca Villa et al.

Summary: NiTiCu alloy with high copper content, specifically 20 atomic %, significantly affects martensitic transformation and damping properties. The study investigated the correlation between thermal treatments, microstructure, formation of secondary phases, and damping properties, identifying four different phases in the alloy through various analyses. The high damping ability of the alloy was confirmed through calorimetry and dynamic thermo mechanical measurements, while electron backscatter diffraction analysis detected different crystallographic structures in the phases.
