Phase diagram of poly(VDF-ter-TrFE-ter-CTFE) copolymers: Relationship between crystalline structure and material properties

Francois Bargain et al.

Summary: Poly(VDF-ter-TrFE-ter-CTFE) copolymers exhibit ferroelectric or relaxor ferroelectric properties depending on their CTFE content, with their solvent cast films crystallizing into three orthorhombic phases. The electric displacement-electric field (D-E) loop, remnant polarization (P-R), and macroscopic properties of the terpolymers show close correlations with the amount of CTFE and annealing steps. Additionally, a temperature versus mol% CTFE phase diagram is established and discussed in relation to material properties.
