Reactive fungal wearable

Summary: Smart wearables can sense and process information from the user's body and environment, and report the results as electrical signals. Fungi are emerging as a promising candidate for sustainable textiles and biowearables. Laboratory experiments showed that the electrical responses of fungi can discern the nature of stimuli, paving the way for future design of intelligent sensing patches for reactive fungal wearables.

Electrical activity of fungi: Spikes detection and complexity analysis

Summary: The study found that oyster fungi generate electrical potential spikes similar to action potential of neurons, which may play a role in the propagation of growing mycelium, transportation of nutrients, and communication processes in the mycelium network. Comparing and analyzing the electrical activity of oyster fungi with neural activity, the study explores new techniques for detecting and classifying fungal spiking activity.
