Computer Adaptive Testing for the Assessment of Anomia Severity

Gerasimos Fergadiotis et al.

Summary: Assessment of anomia is crucial in clinical practice and research involving individuals with aphasia, with confrontation naming tasks being commonly used for this purpose. Traditional confrontation naming tests have limitations due to their psychometric framework, but the item response theory (IRT) offers a modern alternative for developing flexible and efficient tests that provide precise measurements of anomia severity. The use of IRT in aphasiology research allows for more accurate evaluation and future advancements in test development.
