The improved antiviral activities of amino-modified chitosan derivatives on Newcastle virus

Summary: This study synthesized 6-amine chitosan derivatives with more active groups to enhance medicinal activity, especially improving antiviral activity after the introduction of bromine ions. The results showed that the derivatives significantly increased the expression of TNF-alpha and IFN-beta, indicating that the antiviral activity of amino-modified chitosan worked through immune response stimulation.

Summary: The surface charge is a crucial factor governing the antiviral activity of silver nanoparticles, with positively charged BPEI-coated AgNPs exhibiting the highest toxicity towards MS2 bacteriophages. The electrostatic interaction between the positively charged coating and the negatively charged virus surface plays a significant role in reducing the MS2, which could lead to more efficient dosing for antiviral applications.

Highly efficient nanomedicine from cationic antimicrobial peptide-protected Ag nanoclusters

Summary: Designing a homogeneous assembly of the bio-nano interface is crucial to improve the antimicrobial efficiency of nanomedicines. In this study, Luminescent silver nanoclusters with homogeneous conjugation of an antimicrobial peptide (Dpep-Ag NCs) were successfully synthesized and showed enhanced bacterial killing efficiency. The ultrasmall size and positively charged bactericidal tail of Dpep-Ag NCs allow for better interaction with cell membranes, resulting in superior antibacterial efficacy compared to commercial silver nanoparticles.
