A three-dimensional slope stability analysis method based on finite element method stress analysis

Summary: A new three-dimensional slope stability analysis method is proposed based on the finite element method for stress calculation. The method can easily calculate both local and global safety factors of the slip surface and uses an improved ellipsoidal slip surface construction method and two-stage particle swarm optimization to search for the critical slip surface more accurately. The study reveals the influence of various factors on the calculation results and validates the effectiveness of the proposed method through numerical examples and comparison with the strength reduction method.

Experimental investigation of a strain gauge sensor based on Fiber Bragg Grating for diameter measurement

Summary: A strain gauge sensor based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) for diameter measurement is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The sensor is easily fabricated by inserting the FBG on a strain gauge using a 3D printer and fixing the FBG in two points of the structure. The sensor shows a sensitivity of 0.5361 nm/mm and a good linear response of 0.9976, indicating its potential for monitoring diameter variation in certain applications.

Reutilization of gangue wastes in underground backfilling mining: Overburden aquifer protection

Summary: Gangue backfilling mining (GBM) can effectively alleviate gangue pollution and protect overburden aquifers. The hydraulic properties and deformation behaviors of granular gangues were studied, showing that these properties vary with the original grain size grade and stress rate. An improved model based on fractal dimension was found to have better accuracy in predicting permeability evolution compared to the traditional Kruger model.

Mechanical performance and failure criterion of coral concrete under combined compression-shear stresses

Summary: The mechanical performance of coral concrete under combined compression-shear stresses was investigated, and the shear failure modes, deformation proprieties, and shear strength components were analyzed. It was found that with the normal stress ratio increasing, the peak shear strength and corresponding shear displacement also increase. Five failure criterion models were proposed, with the one based on stress invariant achieving the highest prediction accuracy.

Immobilization and leaching characteristics of fluoride from phosphogypsum-based cemented paste backfill

The results showed that temperatures had significant effects on the rheological properties of CPB, while the effects of pH values were relatively unapparent. Higher temperatures and non-neutral pH conditions were found to increase shear stress and apparent viscosity in the CPB samples.
