Effect of dissolved oxygen, temperature, and pH on polarization behavior of carbon steel in simulated concrete pore solution

Xiahe Liu et al.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of carbon steel in simulated aerated concrete pore solution at different pH and temperature is studied by in-situ corrosion potential, potentiodynamic polarization, and Tafel analysis, revealing that Fe dissolution is independent of pH and DO. Experimentally, changes in corrosion potential and resistance are attributed to a combination of anodic steel electrodissolution and cathodic water reduction in deoxygenated solutions, or oxygen reduction in aerated solutions based on temperature and DO levels.

Effect of groove microstructure on slurry erosion in the liquid-solid two-phase flow

Z. X. Chen et al.

Summary: In contrast to traditional research on new materials and coatings, this study utilized various surface microstructures, such as V-shape, U-shape, and ring-shape grooves, to enhance slurry erosion resistance. Experimental results showed that the V-shape groove microstructure had lower erosion rates compared to the U-shape and ring-shape grooves, with vortex flow playing a significant role in different erosion patterns on grooved surfaces.

Experimental Apparent Stern-Geary Coefficients for AZ31B Mg Alloy in Physiological Body Fluids for Accurate Corrosion Rate Determination

Federico R. Garcia-Galvan et al.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of AZ31B Mg alloy exposed to different solutions was investigated using various techniques including EIS, weight loss measurements, and surface characterization. The study compared corrosion rates determined by weight loss with EIS data and evaluated changes in the protective properties of the corrosion product layer. The Stern-Geary coefficients were calculated for each solution to provide reference B' values for future studies on improving the accuracy of corrosion rates in simulated body solutions.

Effect of Thermal Treatment and Erosion Aggressiveness on Resistance of S235JR Steel to Cavitation and Slurry

Alicja K. Krella et al.

Summary: The study on the resistance of S235JR steel to erosion processes revealed that mass loss increased with increasing erosion intensity. Different erosion tests showed that cavitation and slurry erosion had different effects on surface damage and hardness of the steel, with cavitation resulting in stronger strain hardening.
