Administration of a Probiotic Mixture Ameliorates Cisplatin-Induced Mucositis and Pica by Regulating 5-HT in Rats

Intake of Lactobacillus delbrueckii (pExu:hsp65) Prevents the Inflammation and the Disorganization of the Intestinal Mucosa in a Mouse Model of Mucositis

Summary: This study evaluated the beneficial effects of orally administering milk fermented by Lactobacillus delbrueckii CIDCA 133 (pExu:hsp65), a recombinant strain, in a mucositis mouse model. The results showed that this approach increased sIgA levels in intestinal fluid, reduced inflammatory infiltrate, improved histological score, and decreased intestinal permeability. Additionally, gene expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines was reduced, while expression of genes related to mucosal integrity was increased. These findings suggest that this recombinant probiotic strain could be a promising preventive strategy for small bowel inflammation.
