Histomorphology and gene expression profiles during early ovarian folliculogenesis in duck and goose

Shenqiang Hu et al.

Summary: This study compared the histomorphological and molecular changes of primordial, primary, and secondary follicles in duck and goose ovaries during the first 6 weeks post hatching. The results showed that duck ovaries exhibited a faster growth rate for ovarian follicles compared to geese, with earlier appearance of secondary follicles. Differential expression profiles of FSHR, AMH, and CASPASE3 may contribute to these differences in early folliculogenesis between ducks and geese.
