The effect of Dean, Reynolds and Womersley numbers on the flow in a spherical cavity on a curved round pipe. Part 2. The haemodynamics of intracranial aneurysms treated with flow-diverting stents

Summary: This study investigated the fluid dynamics of using FDS for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms, finding that FDS significantly reduces the Re inside the aneurysmal cavity. Under steady flow conditions, the flow pattern inside the cavity is influenced by the parent vessel De. As De increases, the flow transitions from attached flow to recirculating flow, showing a novel behavior compared to high-Re, unimpeded cavity flow.
