Natural compounds modulate the crosstalk between apoptosis- and autophagy-regulated signaling pathways: Controlling the uncontrolled expansion of tumor cells

Cornelia Braicu et al.

Summary: Due to the high number of cancer-related deaths and the economic burden, it is important to study compounds from natural sources. Phytochemicals, components of traditional medicine, have shown promising antitumor activities in modern medicine. Recent studies have highlighted the interconnectedness of apoptosis and autophagy in cancer development and regulation. Understanding how phytochemicals modulate the apoptosis-autophagy relationship can lead to new therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.
