Unlocking the Mystery of the Therapeutic Effects of Chinese Medicine on Cancer

Shao-Hsiang Liu et al.

Summary: The rise of cancer immunotherapy in the past decade has sparked increased public interest in cancer treatment methods. Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history of adjusting the body's health status and has shown positive effects in treating cancer by enhancing survival rates and life expectancies, although the pharmacological mechanisms are not fully understood.

Comparative Efficacy and Safety of Chinese Herbal Injections Combined With Cyclophosphamide and 5-Fluorouracil Chemotherapies in Treatment of Breast Cancer: A Bayesian Network Meta-Analysis

Shuyu Liu et al.

Summary: This network meta-analysis aimed to analyze the comparative efficacy and safety of nine CHIs combined with CF chemotherapy regimens in the treatment of BC. Results showed that certain CHIs combined with CF can improve clinical effectiveness rate, performance status, and relieve adverse reactions, with Shenqi Fuzheng injection considered as a favorable choice for the latter.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Investigation on the Efficiency of Chinese Herbal Injections for Treating Non-small Cell Lung Cancer With Vinorelbine and Cisplatin Based on Multidimensional Bayesian Network Meta-Analysis

Mengwei Ni et al.

Summary: This study found that the combination of CHIs and NP has a better impact on treating patients with NSCLC. Kanglaite injection plus NP showed excellent performance in clinical effectiveness rate, while Huachansu injection plus NP had significant advantages in reducing thrombocytopenia and gastrointestinal reactions. More multicenter and better designed RCTs are needed to validate these findings.

Clinical Application of Chinese Herbal Injection for Cancer Care: Evidence-Mapping of the Systematic Reviews, Meta-analyses, and Randomized Controlled Trials

Ming Yang et al.

Summary: This study provides an overview of the clinical application of Chinese herbal injections in cancer care based on randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The most consistently reported benefits were observed for Compound Kushen, Shenqi Fuzheng, Aidi, and Kangai for tumor response, quality of life, myelosuppression, and enhancing immunity. Further evidence-based research is needed to inform clinical and policy decision-making in the use of these herbal injections for cancer treatment.
