Catalytic Reactions on Pd-Au metallic Model Catalysts

Sungmin Han et al.

Summary: The study of Pd-Au model catalysts under UHV conditions reveals the influence of Pd ensemble size on H-2 desorption behavior, allowing H-2 to be used as a probe molecule for quantifying surface composition. Additionally, the Pd-Au interface is identified as the main reaction site for generating H-2, providing insights for potential liquid storage mediums for hydrogen.

Mechanistic study of C-H bond activation by O2 on negatively charged Au clusters: α,β-dehydrogenation of 1-methyl-4-piperidone by supported Au catalysts

Ray Miyazaki et al.

Summary: The mechanism for the Au/OMS-2-catalyzed aerobic alpha,beta-dehydrogenation of 1-methyl-4-piperidone was investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. It was found that O-2 plays an important role in the reaction over Au nanoparticles and adsorbed oxygen species promote subsequent reactions after H-alpha abstraction. This study provides general insight into the aerobic C-H bond activation by supported Au catalysts.

Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction: recent advancements in catalysis and organic synthesis

Brijesh S. Kadu

Summary: Palladium has been widely used in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction for over 30 years, but it comes with drawbacks such as high cost, tedious work-ups, product contamination, and metal leaching. In recent years, other metals like Ni, Cu, Co, Fe, Rh, and Ru have attracted attention for their potential in SMCR, allowing for the synthesis of industrially important compounds with various functional groups. This review discusses recent advancements in catalysis related to SMCR, providing valuable insights for researchers in designing synthetic protocols for pharmacophores and drug molecules.
