Neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with cerebral small vessel disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Una Clancy et al.

Summary: Through a systematic review and meta-analysis, associations were found between the severity of white matter hyperintensity (WMH) and apathy, while subjective cognitive complaints were not significantly associated with WMH. Some studies had low risk of bias, indicating a need for further research on the association between anxiety, dementia-related behaviors, emotional lability, and psychosis with cerebral small vessel disease.
