Switchable, Tunable, and Directable Exciton Funneling in Periodically Wrinkled WS2

Jubok Lee et al.

Summary: The research focuses on achieving efficient exciton funneling by controlling the periodic undulation of the band gap profile of 1L-WS2 with flexible substrates. Nanoscale photoluminescence imaging showed that excitons in 1L-WS2 accumulate at the top regions of wrinkles with lower band gaps, indicating promising tunability for enhanced optoelectronic performance.

Strain-Directed Layer-By-Layer Epitaxy Toward van der Waals Homo- and Heterostructures

Yi Wan et al.

Summary: The study presents a two-step epitaxy strategy for promoting the growth of second-layer TMDCs on the basal plane of the first TMDCs epilayer. By controlling the tensile strength of the substrate through chemical environments, high-density TMDC homo- and hetero bilayers were successfully grown with high yield and uniformity.
