Board secretary's financial experience, overconfidence, and SMEs' financing preference: Evidence from China's NEEQ market

Summary: This article explains the influence of the board secretary's financial experience on the financing preference through the perspectives of executive behavior and psychology. The study finds that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with board secretaries who have financial experience prefer external financing, leading to a decrease in investment-cash flow sensitivity. Moreover, overconfident secretaries tend to choose external financing.
