Integrating out new fermions at one loop

Andrei Angelescu et al.

Summary: In this paper, the fermionic universal one-loop effective action obtained by integrating out heavy vector-like fermions at one loop is presented using functional techniques. The direct approach to tackling the fermionic functional determinant allows for a simpler and more transparent computation, while also accounting for chiral interaction terms in a simple, algorithmic way. The obtained results are applied to integrate out vector-like fermions in a toy model and in a fermionic model with strong cosmological phase transitions at one loop.

Exploding operators for Majorana neutrino masses and beyond

John Gargalionis et al.

Summary: Building UV completions of lepton-number-violating effective operators is a useful way to study and classify models of Majorana neutrino mass. An algorithm described in this paper systematically generates computational representations of all tree-level completions of the operators up to mass-dimension 11, showing that some operators do not play a dominant role in neutrino-mass generation. The study also identifies at most five models containing three or fewer exotic multiplets predicting new physics below 100 TeV.

Effective operator bases for beyond Standard Model scenarios: an EFT compendium for discoveries

Upalaparna Banerjee et al.

Summary: The BSMEFT is a theoretical framework constructed when the physics spectrum beyond the SM is non-degenerate, including additional IR degrees of freedom. Constructing a BSMEFT is usually the first step after experimental evidence for a new particle is established. This paper provides BSMEFT models and their EFT Lagrangian for three different scenarios.

Connecting electroweak-scale observables to BSM physics through EFT and Bayesian statistics

Anisha et al.

Summary: The study examines the impact of 11 single scalar-multiplet extensions of the Standard Model and performs Bayesian statistical inference to compare different beyond Standard Model scenarios. Through analyzing the resulting Wilson coefficients and Bayesian parameter inference, the research aims to lay the groundwork for data-driven attempts to compare diverse BSM theories.

CP violation at ATLAS in effective field theory

Supratim Das Bakshi et al.

Summary: Studying CP violation beyond the Standard Model is crucial for explaining the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe. The ATLAS experiment has excluded the Standard Model locally at a 95% confidence level through an analysis of electroweak Zjj production. Researchers discuss the relevance of multiboson production and potential UV scenarios, as well as identify vectorlike leptons as a candidate theory consistent with observed CP-odd Wilson coefficient hierarchy.
