Partitioning and solubilities of metals and metalloids in spring rains in Moscow megacity

Dmitry Vlasov et al.

Summary: This study obtained the first dataset on the solubilities and partitioning of metals and metalloids during spring rains in Moscow. It found that there was a 20%-50% increase in solubility in acid rains compared to non-acid rains for certain metals. Anthropogenic sources contributed significantly to the concentration of soluble MMs, while crustal materials were the important contributors for the insoluble MM.

Technogenic magnetic particles from steel metallurgy and iron mining in topsoil: Indicative characteristic by magnetic parameters and Mossbauer spectra

Tadeusz Magiera et al.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of technogenic magnetic particles (TMPs) produced during various industrial processes, indicating that their magnetic parameters can effectively differentiate pollution sources and serve as indicators of historical contamination. The research provides valuable insights for studying environmental impacts of iron metallurgy, steel production, and iron mining activities.
