Dinuclear Triple-Stranded Helicates Composed of Tetradentate Ligands with Aluminum(III) Chromophores: Optical Resolution and Multi-color Circularly Polarized Luminescence Properties

Toshikazu Ono et al.

Summary: A new type of chiroptical chromophores composed of tetradentate ligands with aluminum(III) ions exhibit multi-color photoluminescence with quantum yields up to 54%. The right-handed and left-handed helicates are stable and do not racemize in some solvents, showing mirror images in circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence. Mixing different helicates can produce white light emission with CPL characteristics, providing potential applications for chromophores with diverse photophysical properties.

Solution-Processed White Circularly Polarized Organic Light-Emitting Diodes Based on Chiral Binaphthyl Emitters

Yu Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, solution-processed warm white CP-OLEDs were successfully fabricated by combining blue and orange CPL or functionalized bis-benzoxanethones emitters. The devices showed low turn-on voltage, high luminance, and efficient current efficiency, with stable color coordinates and emission spectra. This work presents a novel and feasible strategy for achieving white CP-OLEDs through co-doping of CPL emitters.

Ultrastrong Red Circularly Polarized Luminescence Promoted from Chiral Transfer and Intermolecular Forster Resonance Energy Transfer in Ternary Chiral Emissive Nematic Liquid Crystals

Kun Yao et al.

Summary: Chiral emissive liquid crystals (N*-LCs) have been shown to significantly enhance circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) signals due to a regular spiral arrangement of dyes. By doping AIE active donors and ME active acceptors into N-LCs, CPL-active ternary chiral emissive N-LCs (T-N*-LCs) are formed, which can emit strong red CPL through intermolecular energy transfer and chirality induction. This work provides an effective strategy for developing high g(lum) CPL materials.

Direct Visualization of Chiral Amplification of Chiral Aggregation Induced Emission Molecules in Nematic Liquid Crystals

Qing Xia et al.

Summary: This study provides a systematic exploration of chiral amplification of chiral aggregation induced emission (AIE) molecules in liquid crystals (LCs) from direct visualization of their co-assemblies at the nano scale to theoretical calculation of the molecular packing modes on a single molecular level. The direct visualization using AFM imaging revealed that chiral AIE molecules self-assembled into helical fibers to serve as the helical template for LCs to bind, forming co-assemblies with morphologies of pearled necklaces or thick rods. Theoretical calculations suggested that chiral AIE molecules were packed into left-handed helical fibers with empty space between neighboring molecules, providing binding sites for LCs.

Rational Design of Multicolor-Emitting Chiral Carbonized Polymer Dots for Full-Color and White Circularly Polarized Luminescence

Yi Ru et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of red- and multicolor-emitting Ch-CPDs using common precursors and a solvothermal approach, achieving high quantum yield and circularly polarized luminescence. Additionally, circularly polarized white-emitting CPDs were fabricated for the first time by tuning the mixing ratio of colored Ch-CPDs in a gel, opening up exciting opportunities for designing functional chiroptical materials.
