Effect of FRP U-jackets on the behaviour of RC beams strengthened in flexure with NSM CFRP strips

S. S. Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper presents the first systematic experimental investigation on the use of FRP U-jackets for delaying or preventing debonding failure in RC beams strengthened in flexure with tension face NSM FRP strips. The test results demonstrate the effectiveness of the U-jacket intervention.

Flexural behavior of carbon-textile-reinforced concrete I-section beams

Kissila Botelho Goliath et al.

Summary: The flexural behavior of carbon textile reinforced concrete I-beams is studied in this research project, with a focus on crack patterns, failure modes, and ductility under different conditions. The study shows that enhanced bonding between reinforcement and matrix, as well as fiber bridging mechanism, can greatly improve the cracking behavior of the beams.

Multiaxis three dimensional (3D) carbon and basalt preforms/cementitious matrix concretes: Experimental study on fiber orientation and placement by panel test

Kadir Bilisik et al.

Summary: The study investigated the properties of multiaxis three-dimensional continuous basalt and carbon fiber/cementitious matrix concretes and found that fiber placement and orientation significantly influenced load carrying, strength, and energy absorption performance. The multiaxis 3D fiber concrete exhibited strain hardening behavior, increasing its energy absorbing capacity. Structures with four directional basalt and carbon fibers showed slightly better energy absorption due to the multiaxis fiber orientation.

Multiaxis three-dimensional (3D) glass fiber preform/cementitious matrix concrete composites: Experimental characterizations by panel test

Kadir Bilisik et al.

Summary: The multiaxis three-dimensional alkali-resistant continuous glass fiber/cementitious matrix concrete composites showed improved load-bearing capability, strength, and energy absorption properties by changing the placement and orientation of the reinforcement fiber. The four directional glass structure demonstrated better energy absorption performance, with fracture mechanisms including fiber-matrix interfacial debonding, local matrix breakages, yarn bridging due to tensile strengthening, tensile pull-out of outer filament, and stick-slip frictions between the filament TOWs and the cementitious matrix.

Flexural performance of reinforced carbon nanofibers enhanced lightweight cementitious composite (CNF-LCC) beams

Su Wang et al.

Summary: Foam concrete, traditionally used for non-structural applications, has attracted increasing interest in structural applications due to its unique properties. The development of carbon nanofibers enhanced lightweight cementitious composite has shown excellent mechanical properties and durability, surpassing traditional foam concrete and improving the ductility of beams. Predictions from standard codes and proposed models align well with test results, indicating the potential of CNF-LCC in structural applications.

Off-Axis Flexural Properties of Multiaxis 3D Basalt Fiber Preform/Cementitious Concretes: Experimental Study

Huseyin Ozdemir et al.

Summary: Manufactured multiaxis three-dimensional continuous basalt fiber/cementitious concretes using flat winding-molding method to improve fracture toughness, experimental study showed that the orientation and placement of continuous basalt filament bundles significantly affected the performance of the concrete composites. The multiaxis 3D basalt concrete, particularly in the B-4D structure, exhibited better damage tolerance compared to neat concrete.
