Dietary nutrients shape gut microbes and intestinal mucosa via epigenetic modifications

Jianmin Wu et al.

Summary: The imbalance of intestinal microecology can lead to impairment of the intestinal mucosa barrier and function, and further damage the functions of distal organs, resulting in systemic diseases.Intestinal microbiota and intestinal mucosa barrier can be shaped and regulated by nutrients and modes of life, which can help mitigate stress.Research shows that dynamic epigenetic modifications of intestinal tissue play a significant role in mediating the interactions between gut microbes and the gut mucosa barrier.

Effects of cooling rate and complexing temperature on the formation of starch-lauric acid- β-lactoglobulin complexes

Bin Niu et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing the cooling rate and complexing temperature both facilitate the formation of complexes between wheat starch, lauric acid, and beta-lactoglobulin. Higher cooling rate results in more complexes with lower thermal transition temperatures, while higher complexing temperature leads to the formation of more complexes with higher thermal transition temperatures.

Synthesis of Silver and Gold Nanoparticles in Sodium Alginate Matrix Enriched with Graphene Oxide and Investigation of Properties of the Obtained Thin Films

Nikola Nowak et al.

Summary: The study focused on the preparation of sodium alginate-based nanocomposites containing nanosilver and nanogold, with the incorporation of graphene oxide sheets for improved thermal stability. The characterization of the materials revealed the formation of 10-20 nm ball-shaped Ag and Au nanoparticles. Enzymatic hydrolysis showed the composites were more prone to degradation, with the sample containing nanosilver exhibiting the strongest bacteriostatic activity.
