Cooperative bimetallic catalyst for thio-etherification reaction prepared by crystal-facet engineering of γ-Al2O3 support

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a novel approach of tuning crystal facet engineering on γ-Al2O3 to expose new facets for improved catalytic performance. By selectively depositing and sulfiding metal oxides NiOx and MoOx on the respective facets, a NiS2-MoS2/Al2O3 catalyst is formed with substantially enhanced activity for thio-etherification reaction. The cooperative catalysis from the newly exposed facets shows superior activity over conventional catalysts, highlighting the potential for rational design of high performance catalysts.

Lotus Leaf-Derived Gradient Hierarchical Porous C/MoS2 Morphology Genetic Composites with Wideband and Tunable Electromagnetic Absorption Performance

Fei Pan et al.

Summary: Lotus leaf-derived gradient hierarchical porous C/MoS2 morphology genetic composites were successfully fabricated with excellent electromagnetic absorption performance. A brand-new dielectric sum-quotient model was proposed to analyze the electromagnetic performance of the non-magnetic material system. By considering the dielectric constant and specific sum and quotient of permittivity, suitable materials with designable electromagnetic absorption performance could be sought through material genetic engineering.

A Nano-Micro Engineering Nanofiber for Electromagnetic Absorber, Green Shielding and Sensor

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: By tailoring the internal structure through nano-micro engineering, a NiCo2O4 nanofiber with integrated EM absorbing and green shielding as well as strain sensing functions is obtained, indicating the coexistence of the two EM functions. The strategies for tuning EM performance and constructing devices can be extended to other EM functional materials to promote the development of electromagnetic driven devices.

Defect Induced Polarization Loss in Multi-Shelled Spinel Hollow Spheres for Electromagnetic Wave Absorption Application

Ming Qin et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the defect induced dielectric loss dominant mechanism in multi-shelled spinel hollow spheres, showing that defects in spinel structure play a more profound role in electromagnetic wave dissipation than oxygen vacancies. The research also suggests that electron spin resonance test can be used as a novel approach to probe materials' electromagnetic wave absorption capacities.
