Are gyms fit for all? A scoping review of the barriers and facilitators to gym-based exercise participation experienced by people with physical disabilities

Hila Sharon-David et al.

Summary: The review investigated barriers and facilitators of gym-based exercise among people with PD, and identified issues at personal, social, and environmental levels. Lack of gym accessibility, social support, and oppressive attitudes within gyms were reported as major barriers. Opportunities to interact with others in gym settings and commitment to exercise were main facilitators for people with PD.

Have you been exercising lately? Testing the role of past behavior on exercise adherence

Filipe Rodrigues et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that past behavior can offset the direct impact of intention on future behavior and act as a buffer variable for experienced gym members. It also found that past behavior plays a role in moderating the indirect effects of other variables on intention, thus influencing behavior.
