Virtual reality for fire safety training: Influence of immersion and sense of presence on conceptual and procedural acquisition

Sarah Morelot et al.

Summary: A fire can have serious economic and human consequences, but rapid intervention and appropriate behavior can significantly reduce this threat. Virtual training environments, as an alternative to traditional training, appear to be judicious. Immersion promotes procedural learning, while presence and interaction do not affect conceptual and procedural learning in training tasks.

Storms, Fires, and Bombs: Analyzing the Impact of Warning Message and Receiver Characteristics on Risk Perception in Different Hazards

Maxi Rahn et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of hazard type and trait anxiety on different components of risk perception in response to warning messages. Results showed that while anticipated negative emotions decreased after receiving warning messages, changes in various components of risk perception were inconsistent across different types of hazards. The findings highlight the importance of considering both hazard characteristics and individual traits in crisis communication strategies.
