Dynamics of soil reinforcement by roots in a regenerating coppice stand of Quercus serrata and effects on slope stability

Keitaro Yamase et al.

Summary: Regeneration by sprouting in secondary forests is a necessary technique for forest resource utilization and maintenance of forest health. Evaluating changes in root distribution and soil reinforcement after cutting in secondary forests is important for understanding slope stability. In this study, the decrease in root strength and its impact on slope stability were quantitatively evaluated in the regeneration process of Quercus serrata in Japan.
