Vascular flora of urban forests in a medium-sized city in Poland: comparison with nature reserves in the city's surrounding

Beata Fornal-Pieniak et al.

Summary: Urban forests in a medium-sized city have more inconsistent trees and shrubs, with some tree species showing poor renewal. Herb plants in urban forests prefer habitats with more light and fertility. Ant seed dispersal is the most common method observed. Conservation of urban biota is important, and sustainable management approaches are needed. Results of studies focused on ecology of urban forests can be a valuable tool for implementing these approaches.
