Systematic review of endovascular stent grafting versus open surgical repair for the elective treatment of arch/descending thoracic aortic aneurysms

Andrew McCarthy et al.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of endovascular stent grafting (ESG) and open surgical repair (OSR) for treating chronic arch or descending thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA). The results showed that ESG had advantages in short-term mortality, but OSR had better outcomes in long-term survival and freedom from re-intervention.
