Molecular dynamics simulation of novel diamino-functionalized hollow mesosilica spheres for adsorption of dyes from synthetic wastewater

Rasool Pelalak et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the facile synthesis, design, simulation, and modeling of novel diamino functionalized hollow mesosilica spheres (DAF-HMSS) structures for the removal of hazardous dyes from aqueous media. The adsorption mechanism, equilibrium capacities, and reactivity assessment were studied using various characterization techniques and molecular dynamics simulation. Results showed that the reactivity and toxicity of Crystal Violet (CV) dye were higher than that of Neutral Red (NR) dye, with higher electrophilic index indicating higher toxicity.

A societal transition of MSW management in Xiamen (China) toward a circular economy through integrated waste recycling and technological digitization

Tonni Agustiono Kurniawan et al.

Summary: Xiamen is currently facing challenges in municipal solid waste management, such as lack of a complete garbage sorting and recycling system, absence of waste segregation between organic and dry waste at source, and incomplete information about the generated waste. Solutions involve enhancing source separation, improving recycling systems, legislation, terminal disposal facilities, incorporating digitization, and establishing standards for recycled products. Learning from the effectiveness of Hong Kong's waste management system is crucial for Xiamen's future MSWM development.

Molecular modeling investigation on mechanism of cationic dyes removal from aqueous solutions by mesoporous materials

Zahra Heidari et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzed the adsorption of methylene blue and malachite green dyes on mesoporous silica (MPS) and amino-functionalized MPS (MPS-APTES) using quantum mechanics method, showing that the presence of amino groups on the surface can improve the adsorption of both dyes. The quantum calculations demonstrated that amino functionalization of MPS provides higher reactivity for adsorption of organic pollutants, indicating the potential of theoretical molecular calculation for evaluating process feasibility before practical analysis.

Molecular dynamic simulations and quantum chemical calculations of adsorption process using amino-functionalized silica

Yan Cao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption behavior of two cationic dyes on mesoporous silica and amino-functionalized MPS through molecular dynamics simulations. The results indicated that amino-functionalization led to improved adsorption affinity for both dyes. Quantum chemical calculations showed differences in adsorption energies between different dye configurations, with RB dye exhibiting higher reactivity and softness compared to NR dye.
