Visceral obesity and incident cancer and cardiovascular disease: An integrative review of the epidemiological evidence

Erika Aparecida Silveira et al.

Summary: Evidence suggests a strong relationship between obesity, cancer, and cardiovascular disease risk, with visceral obesity potentially playing a more pro-oncogenic role than total body fat. However, controversial evidence exists regarding the impact of visceral obesity on CVD risk, especially with sex-specific and aging analyses. Further epidemiological studies stratified by sex and including older adults are needed to explore these associations.

Cardiovascular, anthropometric, metabolic and hormonal profiling of normotensive women with polycystic ovary syndrome with and without biochemical hyperandrogenism

Malgorzata Kaluzna et al.

Summary: This study compared cardiovascular, anthropometric, metabolic, and hormonal features between normotensive patients with HAPCOS and non-HAPCOS, as well as healthy women. While the cardiometabolic profiles of the two PCOS groups were similar, patients with HAPCOS had significantly higher body mass index than non-HAPCOS patients and healthy participants.
