Serum cytokine patterns are modulated in infants fed formula with probiotics or milk fat globule membranes: A randomized controlled trial

Xiaonan Li et al.

Summary: The study found that adding F19 to formula milk resulted in higher IL-2 concentrations and lower IFN-γ concentrations compared to standard formula, while the MFGM group had slightly lower IL-2 and IL-17A concentrations. There were no significant differences in vaccine responses among the formula groups, and the cytokine concentrations in the MFGM group were closer to those of breastfed infants.

Pre-weaning adaptation responses in piglets fed milk replacer with gradually increasing amounts of wheat

Charlotte Amdi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of feeding piglets a milk replacer with increasing levels of wheat flour on growth, gut enzyme activity, and immune function. Results showed that the wheat flour induced immunological and gut mucosal enzyme maturational changes, suggesting adaptation towards a vegetable-based diet. Future studies are needed to assess potential benefits during the weaning process.
